BOILERMAKERS
Work Description
Boilermakers perform erection, repair and maintenance of hydroelectric, fossil and nuclear power plants, oil refineries, chemical plants, paper mills and steel mills. Their skills include boiler manufacturing and fabricating, steel plate and structural steel fabrication, pressure vessel and tank fabrication, highway construction equipment manufacturing, oil field equipment manufacturing and other metal fabrication.
Working Conditions
Members of the Shipbuilding and Marine Division are employed at private marine construction and repair facilities, and naval shipyards and piers.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- Physically able to perform the work
- Have no fear of heights (200’ – 1000’ above the ground)
- Possess a valid driver’s license and provide own transportation
- Be willing to travel
Application Process
Apply to the National Apprenticeship Committee at the Laborers Hall, 220 Johnson Street
Wisconsin Rapids, WI on the third Tuesday of each month between 10:00 A.M and 12:00 P.M.
Provide birth certificate, High School Diploma or GED, Social Security card and Drivers License

Terms of Apprenticeship
- 4 year program
- 144 hours a year of paid classroom training
- 6,000 hours on-the-job training, self-study and classroom training
