Work Description
Roofers apply shingles, slate, tile, tar and gravel to roofs on residential and commercial buildings. They apply water proofing to indoor planters and floors.
Working Conditions
A roofer works with chemical mixes and glues. The work is rigorous and requires good physical conditioning.
Qualifications
- 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Most employers require a certified driver’ license (CDL)
- Recommended high school courses are shop and print reading
